(WZZM)- Surf, rock out and glow throughout West Michigan this weekend with one of these spectacular events.
Start off at the beach for the Rip My Shred Stick Tour. A group of Hurley's professional surfers will be at Grand Haven City Beach to hang out with local kids and oversee a "low key" surf contest. There will be prizes awarded to the top finishers.
Kids will also be able to try out Hurley boards and gear out in the water. A $25 Hurley purchase will get you a free customizable hat.
Parents will have to sign waivers for children under 18 years old.
Activities begin at 8 a.m. and grab some free drinks and pizza at MACkite Board Sports at 106 Washington Avenue in Downtown Grand Haven.
The last day at the Coast West Music Festival offers performances from Hinder and Three Days Grace, also Steve Rivers and Gregg Allman, and The Carl Webb Band along with Ruth and Max Bloomquist.
But also in Muskegon, the Lakeshore Art Festival is making its mark.
More than 100 artists will be showcasing their work. There will also be live music and local food to enjoy.
The festival starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
And the Glow in the Park 5K is sure to provide a good time. It's a 5K foot race through Millennium Park in Grand Rapids in the dark. But don't be scared, there will be plenty of glow to light the way.
Participants will run through eight different glow powder stations, 4 different glow water stations, and two foam pits. Participants can also expect to get pumped up before and after the run thanks to a live DJ and after party.
50% of the t-shirt sales as well as 25% of the registration fees will go to the Family Hope Foundation, a local organization that helps families with special needs children.
700 people are already registered, and organizers hope to hit 800 by Saturday night. You will be able to register at the run. Day-of packet pick up starts at 7 p.m. and the run starts at 9:30 p.m. or whenever it is dark enough to glow through the park.
White and florescent clothing often brings the best, most colorful results.
