Steve Spadorcia(June 2013)
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A 52-year-old homeless man named Steve Spadorcia appeared in a WZZM 13 Watchdog report Monday evening and his family says that was the first time they had seen or heard from him in over a year.

After our story was broadcast, Steve's brother Dan sent WZZM 13 an e-mail saying he was astonished and grateful to see he was still alive and relatively healthy.
Dan told us Steve slowly slipped from a normal hard working, well providing family man into an alcoholic. He said Steve no longer kept in contact with any family members, not even his mother or two adult daughters. They wondered if he was still alive.
Then he appeared on WZZM 13 News with an unfamiliar beard but still recognizable.
His brother goes on to say life sure can change fast. 10 years ago they never would have imagined. But the family was comforted to know at least Steve was not alone. And after seeing him on WZZM 13, they at least know exactly where he is at.
We received that e-mail from Dan Wednesday morning. Police believe Steve was killed Wednesday evening behind a vacant storefront in the 600 block of Bridge Street NW, where homeless men are often seen.
