Fuller & Sherman, Grand Rapids. (August 16, 2013)
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Police say an hour-long situation on Fuller Ave. SE stemmed from a distraught elderly man who may have had a gun.
Around 9 p.m. officers surrounded a house on Fuller near Bemis Street after someone reported a man with a gun on his porch.
Fuller Ave. was shut down from Bemis to Dunham while crews responded to the possible threat, a witness told WZZM 13 officers had guns drawn.
However when police established contact with the man, they were able to talk him out of the house peacefully. He told authorities he was upset because his wife is hospitalized and recently had surgery.
The man is being hospitalized for observation. Police say no crime was committed.
