UPDATE (WZZM): Michigan State Police say the driver of the motorcycle involved in a Tuesday night crash is 47 year old Bruce Ratcliff, of Grand Rapids.
Accord to police reports, Ratcliff was driving a 2006 Baja motor scooter on the ramp from south US-131 to east I-196.
Around 10:00 p.m. he left the ramp and struck a guardrail and a sign before he was thrown from the scooter.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Ratcliff is hospitalized with critical injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Eastbound I-196 and the involved ramp were closed for two hours after the crash, but both have since reopened.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Michigan State Police closed the ramp from southbound U.S. 131 to eastbound I-196 following a motorcycle crash Tuesday night.
The crash happened just after 10 p.m. on the eastbound I-196 ramp.
The driver's condition was not available.
