WHITEHALL, Mich. (WZZM) -- The community group called "BOW-NOT" says it plans to appeal a recent decision to approve a site plan for a proposed Walmart.
The Whitehall Township Planning Commission approved the site plan last week, but members of "Back off Wal-Mart-Not-Our-Town" plan to file an appeal and pursue litigation if need be.
Walmart wants to build a store in Whitehall Township just east of US-31.
BOW-NOT has collected $28,000 in donations and intends on using the money on educational materials, yard signs and legal fees.
The group also has a petition drive with a goal of 5,000 signatures from area residents who would not shop at the store if it is built.
