GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- There's plenty to do if you choose to stick around for a "stay-cation" this Labor Day weekend.
The Grand Crossings Labor Day Bridge Walk will kick off at 8:00 a.m. on Labor Day. It starts in Ah-Nab-Awen park, downtown Grand Rapids. This years new route runs for five miles and will take you across several Grand Rapids bridges. Mayor George Heartwell will lead the walk. There's no need to sign up ahead of time, and it's open to all levels of fitness.
Over 50 trucks will drive from downtown Zeeland to Holland's Civic Center for the annual Holland-Zeeland Labor Day Truck Parade. All of the trucks belong to companies that manufacture and distribute products from Holland or Zeeland, and employ lakeshore residents. It starts Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.
The Downtown Market in Grand Rapids is celebrating the official open to its Indoor Market Hall on Labor Day. Vendors have been moving their products into the hall over the past month. The Indoor Market Hall is two stories, and includes two restaurants, a wellness center, an educational kitchen, and rooftop greenhouses. Doors officially open to the public Monday at 9:00 a.m.
