Winners of the 1971 Mercury Comet. (September 2, 2013)
NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WZZM) -- There was plenty of shiny chrome on the lakeshore Labor Day. The ninth annual Cars for Cancer fundraiser filled the parking lot of Mercy Health Partners Lakes Village.
The judged show included an afternoon cruise. A 1971 Mercury Comet was also raffled off.
This is the biggest year so far for the event. Organizers say they added new activities this year to raise money to support cancer patients.
"This year there is a pin-up contest and pin-up calendar. There is a pancake breakfast and hotdog lunch and as much as we can fit in," explained Becky Biesiada.
The pin-up calendar is available on the Cars for Cancer Facebook page. The event has collected almost $90,000 for the Johnson Family Cancer Center over nine years.
