GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The next event for Grand Rapids is a 33-year-old tradition created to celebrate the openings of two landmarks in the city.
Celebration on the Grand is this weekend. It was created in 1980 as a way to celebrate the grand openings of Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel.
It has grown into a celebration that attracts thousands of people to downtown Grand Rapids for food, music and fireworks.
Celebration on the Grand begins Friday evening at five and continues all day Saturday. The fireworks show is at dusk on Friday night in Grand Rapids.
