ALLENDALE, Mich. (WZZM) -- The new $65 million library at Grand Valley State University is now officially open to the public.
It took two years to build the Mary Idema Pew Library, which replaces the original library built in the 1960s.
The University held a dedication Tuesday night.
The library has triple the seating of the old building, space for 150,000 books on open shelves, and 600,000 library items in an automated retrieval system.
The university will hold an open house to show off the new library this Saturday afternoon starting at 1 p.m.
