EDMORE, Mich. (WZZM)-A teenage skateboarder is recovering after impaling himself on a piece of metal.
The accident happened at Fifth and Pine streets around 5 p.m. Thursday in Edmore.
Montcalm County Sheriff deputies say the 14-year-old had been skateboarding while holding a quarter-inch piece of metal that was about two to three feet in length. The boy fell from his skateboard, landing on the piece of metal, which penetrated his body.
The boy was alert and speaking when rescuers arrived. He was taken to a nearby hospital then flown to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, where he was listed in good condition Friday morning. The boy is expected to make a full recovery.
