Muskegon, Mich. (WZZM) An effort is underway to rid a Muskegon Park of an invasive plant species.
The work at Veterans Memorial Park started this morning.
Volunteers, including members of the North Side Lions Club and the Muskegon County Veterans Affairs office, hope to remove plants that are taking over the park.
The group says the invasive plants, and some native plants, are obscuring the park's monuments and two rare 1906 artillery cannons.
The work includes planting native plants in the cleared areas.
The volunteers are organizing a community work-day this at 9a.m. Saturday September 14th.
