KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) - Four people were sent to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Kalamazoo County Sunday afternoon.
Michigan State Police say a Buick Century was driving northbound on U.S. 131 north of D Avenue about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The driver began to merge into another lane but didn't notice until the last moment that there was already a vehicle in that lane. Troopers say the driver overcorrected and lost control of her vehicle, which flipped.
An 18 year old man was ejected from the back window of the car. Three other people in the car were also injured. All four were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Michigan State Police think the accident was caused by distracted driving, that the driver was distracted by the other people in her car. No one in the car was wearing a seatbelt.
