GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Thanks to the volunteers from around Kent County, hundreds of senior citizens will receive food without interruption.
The Area Community Services Employment and Training Counsels or ACSET was forced to layoff 11 of its workers because of the government shutdown.
The organization is responsible for providing food to low income seniors in 1,300 Kent County households.
Friday, staff and volunteers will hand out food out to seniors at ACSET's building on Fuller Avenue. Seniors will be able to drive up and have the food loaded directly into the car.
