GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Wearing survival gear and pitching a tent, the principal of Knapp Forest Elementary will be sleeping on top of his school Thursday night.
The reason? To thank students, parents, and staff for supporting the annual parent-teacher fundraiser.
Principal Scott Haid is allowed to come down from the roof and use the bathroom, but will return to the roof to eat, sleep, and catch up on some reading.
Despite the fun students are having know their principal is on the roof, some of them voiced their concern.
"They were real concerned about me. There's a round part of the roof where I might sleep," explained Principal Haid. "A lot of questions about if I was a sleep walker-- I assured them I'm a pretty sound sleeper, so I'll sleep good."
Principal Haid will remain on the roof until school starts at 8:40 a.m. Friday.
