Crash near 41 Mile Marker on southbound I-196 near Saugatuck
UPDATE AT 12:18 A.M. (WZZM) -- Deputies have reopened north- and southbound I-196 Ford Freeway between Saugatuck and Douglas following a deadly accident.
Emergency workers reopened the northbound lanes around midnight, while the southbound lanes reopened around 12:15 a.m.
SAUGATUCK, Mich. (WZZM) -- Two men are dead following a crash on southbound I-196 Ford Freeway between Saugatuck and Douglas in Allegan County.
The accident happened around 8 p.m. Thursday.
Police tell WZZM 13 News Jared Kavinsky, a 21 year old from Wisconsin, lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the safety cables in the median.
Investigators say 62 year old Terrence Noone from Chicago was driving by then stopped to help, when another car, a Chevy Impala, driven by Joseph Willard from Comstock Park, lost control and slammed into the Honda. Both Kavinsky and Noone were pronounced dead at the scene.
