GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier will be christened on November 9th, and the celebration will include three close friends and associates of President Ford.
Henry Kissinger, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney will all attend an event to celebrate President Ford's life and legacy after the christening.
Susan Ford Bales, Doug DeVos and Red Cavaney will also be in attendance.
The U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford is a new class of aircraft carrier, built to launch aircraft more quickly, while saving the Navy an estimated $4 billion in operating costs over the projected 50 year life span of the ship.
WZZM 13 Anchor Lee Van Ameyde will attend the christening on Saturday, November 7th in Newport News, Virginia and will report live from the shipyard starting that Thursday evening.
