EAST LANSING, Mich. (WZZM)-The heavy rains this week are putting a damper on the highly anticipated matchup between the University of Michigan and Michigan State University Saturday.
Michigan State Police say Munn Field and other soggy intramural fields will be closed for parking during the rivalry game. Munn Field is often a popular place for tailgating ahead of Spartan football games.
Troopers say there are several alternative sites to park vehicles, including:
- The former Michigan State Police headquarters, across from the Breslin Arena along Harrison Road.
- Student parking lot 83, on Service Road just east of Harrison Road.
- Student parking lot 91, on Service Road just west of Hagadorn Road. (Parking fee includes shuttle service to the stadium from the MSU Clinical Center.)
- Student commuter lot at Farm Lane and Mt. Hope Road. (Parking is free; round trip shuttle ticket is $4.)
Troopers say fans may want to arrive early because of the parking and traffic changes. Parking lots open at 9 a.m. If you don't want to make the trip, you can also watch the MSU-UM game on WZZM 13, starting at 3:30 p.m.
