GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A family owned auto parts supplier has 50 jobs to fill, ranging from skilled trades positions to entry level assemblers.
Gill Industries says the workers will be hired in the next 90 days to support work for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler and GMC Acadia.
"The automotive industry is humming now and our approach to developing innovative products has enabled Gill to win new business," says Frank Jesensek, director of operations for the company.
Gill recently invested $2 million in new equipment at its facility at 5271 Plainfield Avenue NE.
Another Plainfield business is profiting from Jeep's popularity. Chris Brokaw, general sales manager at VanAndel & Flikkema Chrysler-Jeep, says demand far outstrips supply for Jeeps. He sold 25 of them last month and he's convinced he could have sold 35 if he had more inventory.
