GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- A new non-profit organization in Grand Rapids is hosting a welcome reception this week.
"Do Your Dance" started up in May, hoping to teach west Michigan youth different forms of dance for little to no cost.
They are hosting their welcome reception on November 8th from 6-8 p.m. at the Heart of Michigan United Way.
During the reception, will have sign up sheets for volunteers and students looking to learn dance.
It is also an opportunity for people to learn about the organization.
"What we're going to do is teach students between middle school and high school so about 10 to 18 kind of what it is what at dancing means, how you can use it, " explains founder Charise Tucker. "There is gonna be different styles being taught, so ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and we want to do this at little to no cost, there are a ton of kids out there just itching for something to do after school."
Do your Dance is currently running an I Dance video competition. Just log onto facebook, twitter, or instagram and upload a 15 to 30 second video with the hashtag eye dance saying why you love dance.
Contest winners will be announced at the welcome reception November 8th.
They will receive tickets to the Grand rapids Ballet.
