Ottawa Hills' Antoine Wilson led the Bengals past OK Red co-champ East Kentwood Wednesday.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Grand Rapids Public Schools is planning to close Creston High School, meaning its team -- the Polar Bears -- will be gone from the O-K Conference.

But the district's changes also mean the end of the Ottawa Hills Bengals and the Union Red Hawks, ending nearly 100 years of athletic history at those schools

The district's transformation plan would combine those three athletic programs into two new varsity teams -- Grand Rapids East and Grand Rapids West.

School leaders will hold community hearings on the plan beginning this Thursday, with a final board vote coming on December 17.
