Provo, UT (Sports Network) - Behind a career-best 32 points from Tyler Haws,
the BYU Cougars defeated the Cal State Northridge Matadors, 87-75, in non-
conference action at the Marriott Center.
Haws shot 9-of-17 from the floor and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw
line for BYU (4-2). Brock Zylstra tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, and five
assists, while Brandon Davies logged 12 points and eight rebounds.
For Northridge (6-1), Stephan Hicks scored 25 points and grabbed eight
rebounds, Stephen Maxwell put up 17 points, and Josh Greene netted 13 points.
BYU shot a modest 42.4 percent from the floor in the first half, but it was
able to take a 46-40 lead into intermission behind a fantastic 17-of-19 effort
at the foul line.
Northridge actually led, 74-73, with just over four minutes remaining in the
game following a Hicks bucket, but the Cougars ended the game on a 14-1 run.
The Matadors shot just 42.2 percent from the field in the contest, including
5-of-13 from three-point range.
