Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Jaromir Jagr scored in the fourth round of the
shootout to lift the Dallas Stars over the Phoenix Coyotes, 4-3, in the opener
of a home-and-home series.
Brenden Dillon had a goal and an assist for the Stars, who snapped a four-game
skid. Antoine Roussel and Michael Ryder also scored.
Kari Lehtonen made 31 saves for Dallas, which posted a 4-3 home win over the
Coyotes to open the season on Jan. 19.
Martin Hanzal had two goals for Phoenix, which fell to 2-4-2 on the season.
Radim Vrbata added a goal and an assist.
Mike Smith stopped 21-of-24 shots for the Coyotes, who played Friday's game
just hours after the franchise's latest prospective buyer fell through. Greg
Jamison, who had a provisional deal in place to purchase the Coyotes, missed
Thursday's midnight deadline to officially buy the club from the NHL.
