New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - The Tulane Green Wave defeated the South
Alabama Jaguars 84-73 in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament
at the Devlin Fieldhouse, 84-73, thanks to a double-double performance from
Josh Davis.
Davis scored 26 points with 12 rebounds for the Green Wave (20-14) who made
their first post-season appearance since 2000. Kendall Timmons and Ricky
Tarrant added 13 points each while Tarrant also swiped four steals.
Augustine Rubit supplied 31 points for the Jaguars (17-13) but it was not
enough as USA's season came to an end. Mychal Ammons had 11 points while
shooting 3-of-6 from 3-point range and Javier Carter just missed a double-
double with 10 rebounds and nine points to go with his three blocks.
Both teams shot below 36.0 percent from the field in the first half but it was
Tulane's 10-of-12 shooting from the free-throw line that gave the Green Wave a
38-29 lead at the break.
The Green Wave shot 56.0 percent from the floor in the second half and scored
17 points from the charity stripe as they outscored the Jaguars 46-44 to close
out the win.
Tulane scored 27 points off 37 attempts from the free-throw line and forced
USA into 15 turnovers which resulted in 14 points for the Green Wave.
