EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP/WZZM) -- Michigan State University has welcomed back the Spartans following their Rose Bowl victory.
The players arrived back on campus about 8:30 p.m. Thursday after a flight delay.
The East Lansing school's athletics department sponsored a Thursday night rally at the Skandalaris Football Center. A lot of fans turned out despite the cold. They said if they couldn't go to the game, they at least wanted to turn out to welcome them back. "This is a good thing to go to. To see the team and see some of the stars." said one fan we talked with.
Jeremy Webb from Grand Rapids told us he had waited 26 years for this moment in his life. "I had to watch my boys come home," said Webb.
Another fan who went to the 1988 Rosebowl said they couldn't make this year, but wanted to congratulate the players when they returned Thursday night.
No. 4 Michigan State beat No. 5 Stanford 24-20 Wednesday night.
