Griffins down Stars in game four to even series

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Through four games, home is where the wins are for the Grand Rapids Griffins and Texas Stars.

The Griffins evened the AHL's Western Conference semifinal series with a 3-2 win Wednesday night at Van Andel Arena. The series is now even at 2-2. The home team has won every game in the series.

For the first time in the series, the team that scored the first goal did not win.

Texas scored in the opening seconds of the second period on a breakaway goal from Dustin Jeffrey, before the Griffins answered with three goals in the middle frame.

Jeff Hoggan's power-play goal tied the game at 1-1. David McIntyre and Andrej Nestrasil also scored for Grand Rapids.

Petr Mrazek made 33 saves for the win in goal.

The Griffins were forced to play without star forward Tomas Jurco for most of the game.

Jurco left during the first period with an upper body injury and did not return. His status for Friday's Game 5 is unknown.
