GRANDVILLE, MI - Grandville Calvin Christian came into Friday night at 3-3 (3-1) with aspirations still alive and well to make the post-season. Standing in their way tonight was 2-4 Hopkins. The Squires led it midway in the third 16-0, before the Vikings came to within 8 later in the third to make it 16-8. Jake Bouma then found a nice lane up the middle to take it to the house and make it 22-8, then his teammate Noah Lindhout punched in the two-point conversion to make it 24-8. Grandville C.C would not look back as they won 34-16 to improve to 4-3 on the season and (4-1) in the OK-Silver conference. they must win their final two games to be guaranteed a spot in the MHSAA Division 6 playoffs. Next up a showdown with 6-1 (5-0) Leroy Pine River next week before closing out the season with Belding 5-2 (4-0) on October 21st. One thing is for certain after Friday night, the OK-Silver race is starting to heat up. Hopkins dropped to 2-5 on the season.
