Cougars aim for back-to-back in Division 4

GRCC state preview

Grand Rapids Catholic Central has shown time and time again that they play with the heart of a champion.

In the Division 4 state championship game a year ago the Cougars trailed 7-3 in the 4th quarter before beating Detroit Country Day 10-7.

This year Catholic Central trailed both Hudsonville Unity Christian and Wyoming Kelloggsville before rallying to win both games.

"When you've been down in the state championship, you know what it takes and we've done it before," said senior running back Nolan Fugate. "So we know what a championship-level of play is like. That will help us going into this week. If we get down, we'll stay focused and execute our plays and take it one play at a time."

The defense has played well in the last two weeks, giving up a total of 3 points. Cougars senior defensive end Aidan Burns says the intensity has always been there but now the Cougars are executing at a high level. "We could be up by 20 or down by 20 and we're going to go out there and give every play everything we've got."

Catholic Central will face Edwardsburg Friday night at 7:30pm at Ford Field.
