CEDAR SPRINGS, MICH. - Forest Hills Northern and Cedar Springs entered Friday night one game behind Lowell in the OK White. They both also needed to win out to guarantee a spot in the playoffs.
This one went down to the wire. With the score tied at halftime, 21-21, the Huskies drew first blood in the second half to go up 28-21.
But Cedar made a gutsy call on their next TD drive, going for two. They would convert and took a 29-28 lead.
No problem for Northern. They'd score again on a big touchdown run to go up 36-29 and an interception in the final minutes would be enough to ice it for the Huskies.
FHN now has second place in the OK White all to itself. And Cedar Springs will have to win out to end with a 5-4 record and hope their name gets called for the playoffs on Selection Sunday.
