LOWELL, MICH - Lowell's defense came up with big stops in the fourth quarter Friday night to help the Red Arrows hold off Forest Hills Central 22-19.
Lowell opened the scoring on a 41 yard run by David Kruse to make it 6-0. The Rangers took a 7-6 lead on a Tanner Hallock to Bryce Clay 25 yard scoring pass. Lowell retook the lead 12-7 on Kruse's second touchdown run of the first quarter.
Lowell extended the lead to 15-7 on a 25 yard field goal by Sairge Saldivar. Hallock found Sal Sidebotham for a three yard scoring strike to cut Lowell's lead to 15-13 at the half.
The Rangers took the lead in the third quarter on a nine yard pass from Hallock to Jack Uecker. The third quarter ended with FHC up 19-15.
Lowell took the lead 22-19 on the first play of the fourth on Kruse's third touchdown of the game, this one from 16 yards out. Lowell's defense stepped up big after that forcing turnovers on three straight Ranger possessions. The Red Arrow offense was able to chew up time on their fourth quarter possessions to finish the game.
Lowell advances to next Saturday's semifinal game against the winner of Fenton and Walled Lake Western, they play Saturday at Noon.
