WEST MICHIGAN - There were numerous standout offensive and defensive performances during week seven of the high school football season, but a few stand out above the rest, especially considering what the performances meant for their teams.
Now, it's time to name our Week 7 Mercy Health On Your Sidelines MVP of the week.
And the nominees are …
Alex Guzman - Kelloggsville The junior quarterback threw for 154 yards and a touchdown and added 99 yards on the ground, leading the Rockets to a 21-10 win over NothePointe Christian that qualifies them for postseason play for the first time since 2011.
Jack Mandryk - Hudsonville The senior quarterback did it all for the Eagles in their 35-12 win over Caledonia. Mandryk rushed for 237 yards and scored all five of Hudsonville’s touchdowns and he even had a few pass breakups on defense as the Eagles won their third straight to improve to 6-1.
David Kruse - Lowell Kruse rallied the Red arrows from a 17 point fourth quarter deficit by running for a score and throwing for another. The quarterback accounted for four total touchdowns in the game and 260 yards as Lowell scores 21 fourth quarter points to rally and stay undefeated.
