GEORGETOWN TWP. MICH. - Hudsonville Unity Christian is Regional champs for the first time in school history after knocking off Lakewood Friday night. The Crusader defense lead the way holding the high powered Viking offense in check all night.
Parker Scholten's one yard touchdown run gave Unity Christian a 6-0 lead after one quarter. Mitchell Dykstra's keeper for a 25 yard score made it 12-0. Jacob Ohlman made it 15-0 with a 26 yard field goal on the last play of the half.
The Crusaders Alec Headley made it 22-0 with a 48 yard scoring run on the first play of the second half. An 18 yard touchdown pass from Mitchell Dykstra to TJ VanKoevering gave the Crusaders a 29-0. Scholten's second touchdown gives Unity Christian a 36-0 to start the running clock in the third quarter.
Austin Leazenby got Lakewood on the board with a 10 yard touchdown run to make it 36-8. Kyle Willette finished the scoring with a three yard score. The Crusaders advance to the semifinals against the winner of Saturdays game between Escanaba and Grand Rapids Catholic Central.
