Godwin Heights teammates sign to play D-1 basketball

GH players sign letters of intent

WYOMING, Mich -- Godwin Heights seniors Markeese Hastings and Lamar Norman signed national letters of intent to play college basketball on Monday at the high school.

Hastings announced his commitment to Butler on Twitter over the weekend.

"The atmosphere at Butler was just crazy," Hastings said after the ceremony. "As soon as I went in the gym it was just wonderful. When I went there people welcomed me, everything was just great. I loved it."

Hastings averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists last season and chose the Bulldogs over offers from Cleveland State, Miami (OH) and Oakland.

Norman will play both guard spots at UTEP. He averaged 21.2 points per game last season for the Wolverines and has led Godwin Heights to a 68-7 record over the past three seasons.

"UTEP is a very nice school, it fit me well," Norman said. "The coaching staff is like family...I'm happy to be at UTEP."
