MUSKEGON, MICH. - Mona Shores High School basketball player Jordan Walker says it’s a dream come true.
Monday, March 13, Walker was named “Miss Basketball” for 2017 by the high school coaches in the state.
Less than two years ago, Walker went down with a torn ACL, a knee injury that could have ended her career as an elite basketball player. But with the help of her family and her faith, Walker says she worked countless hours to rehab and regain her skills.
“This injury was definitely a bump in the road,” she says. “But looking back on it, I just know it was a test for me."
After her injury, recruiters from the bigger colleges lost interest in Walker. But coaches at Western Michigan recognized her potential and she accepted their scholarship offer.
She says she is ready for the challenge.
“Definitely have to elevate my game to get to the next level,” she says. “But I’m excited about putting in the work.”
