KENT CITY, MICH. - High school football is just about two weeks away from the start of official practices but teams are hitting the 7-on-7 circuit to prepare for those grueling weeks in August in pads.
Friday, Kent City hosted a 12 team tournament but with a bigger purpose in mind...they were raising money for the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
Teams from as far as Kalamazoo to Elk Rapids worked on their offensive passing game plans and their defensive assignments while raising money through donations, a silent auction and t-shirt sales.
This is the first year of the 7-on-7 tournament but it pairs with the Eagles Military Appreciation Game they have hosted the past three years during the season.
They see it as a win-win anytime they can pair the sport they love with the folks that make it all possible.
