West Michigan Whitecaps sees season end in 5-2 loss

Whitecaps fall to Loons 5-3 in game three of their best-of-three series with Great lakes.

COMSTOCK PARK, MICH. (AP) - Omar Estevez hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, leading the Great Lakes Loons to a 5-2 win over the West Michigan Whitecaps on Tuesday.

The home run by Estevez scored Brendon Davis to give the Loons a 3-2 lead.

The Loons later tacked on two runs in the ninth when Davis hit an RBI single and Saige Jenco scored on a stolen base to secure the victory.

Andrew Istler (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Drew Smith (2-3) took the loss in the Midwest League game. Shea Spitzbarth recorded his eighth save of the season.
