Heat score late to beat Griffins and force Game 4

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The Abbotsford Heat aren't leaving Grand Rapids without a fight.

Markus Granlund's goal with :62 remaining in regulation gave the Heat a 2-1 win over the Griffins in Game 3 of the AHL's Western Conference quarterfinal series at Van Andel Arena.

The Heat survive to force Game 4 in the series on Friday night in Grand Rapids. The Griffins lead the series 2-1.

New additions from the Detroit Red Wings paid quick returns for the Griffins.

Tomas Jurco opened the scoring in the first period off a pass from Riley Sheahan to put the Griffins up 1-0.

The Heat answered with a pair of goals in the third period.

Corey Locke tied the game off a deflection from Chris Breen's slapshot from the point.

Abbotsford later would cash in on a Jeff Hoggan penalty for high-sticking in the final two minutes.

Granlund split two defenders before beating Griffins' goalie Petr Mrazek on a breakaway to give the Heat its first lead of the night.

Heat goalie Joni Ortio made 34 saves in the win.
