Playoffs equal 'Bertuzzi Time' for Griffins forward

Griffins Bertuzzi ready for playoffs to get under way

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The Griffins wrapped up the regular season on Saturday, April 15, and the playoffs are set to begin Friday night against the Milwaukee Admirals.

The second season traditionally brings more pressure and intensity. That's just fine for Griffins forward Tyler Bertuzzi, who thrives at this time of year.

"I like the playoffs, it's a gritty style of hockey and that's the style I like to play," Bertuzzi said. "It's do-or die every night and I like to play that way and the puck just seems to find my stick."

Bertuzzi has scored 14 goals in 23 playoff games, good for fourth most in Griffins history.

For the past two playoff runs, the Griffins have come to expect his grit and scoring touch, and after missing 10 games over the last three weeks due to injury, Bertuzzi says he’s healthy and ready grind once again for his teammates.

"They know what to expect from me and they'll know I'll show up every night and work as hard as I can and do whatever it takes to get then win. I'll show them again during these playoffs."

Bertuzzi scored 12 goals and added 25 assists for a career high 37 points this season, despite playing just 48 games with the Griffins.

Puck drops on the postseason on Friday, April, 21 at Van Andel at 7 p.m.
