MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) WZZM and Meijer are pleased to recognize Reeths-Puffer High School senior Tara Homfeld as our Meijer Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of March 19th.

Tara is a 4.0 student who will attend Grand Valley State university next year and intends to pursue a career in nursing.

A multi-sport athlete, Tara has participated in track, cross-country, soccer and cheerleading at Reeths-Puffer. And she and her father Bob hold an interesting distinction: they both own part of the same school track record. Last year, Tara and her 4x4 relay teammates set a Reeths-Puffer girls record, the same record Bob helped set for the boys in 1985 which still stands. "We're so happy that we could have the same record," Tara tells WZZM. "They put it in our school newspaper and we got a picture taken together-the two Homfelds got the school record."

Away from sports, Tara has spent many hours tutoring kids and volunteering with fundraisers and canned food drives.

WZZM and Meijer congratulate Tara and wish her continued success!
