COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) - Fans were fired up from the start.

"The Twins have their towels that they are all going to cry with when they are all done losing," said a hopeful Sue Bouwkamp of Rockford.

The final score wasn't exactly the outcome fans hoped for, but at least they enjoyed what could have been among friends at the White Caps club house.

"If you get together as a group and the camaraderie of it and also to see all these former White Caps, a few years ago they were playing at the ballpark here and now they're up with the Tigers."

Watch parties would have continued as would high spirits.

"Of course Michigan has been plagued by a terrible economy that's no secret to anyone who has traveled here. I think people would really enjoy an uplifting thing. If Detroit Tigers could come away with a couple play-off wins and bring it back to the World Series, not only for Detroit but for the whole state. That's what it's all about, the bragging rights," said Larry Schutte of Holland.

There are none after a long 12 innings, but fans did enjoy the excitement... at least for a little while.
