NEWAYG, MICH. - Tuesday NFL offensive tackle Jared Veldheer held a camp in his hometown for youth football players.
Wednesday it was Joe Berger's turn.
For the third year, the Minnesota Viking held his youth camp at his alma mater, Newaygo High School.
The 13 year NFL vet played for Newaygo in the late 90s to 2000.
His camp hosted its biggest turnout so far with about 325 kids from kindergarten to eighth grade learning new techniques and skills while meeting the coaches they will have the next few years if they continue to play the sport.
The camp was funded by a grant through the NFL so it was entirely free to the kids.
Berger was a walk on at Michigan Tech and earned his way to a 6th round pick by the Miami Dolphins.
Never a highly rated player, he made his way with hard work and determination and is now still playing at age 35.
