Whitecaps sweep away Lugnuts, 5-2

The Whitecaps just don't know how to lose.

COMSTOCK PARK, MICH. - Drew Longley hit a run-scoring double in the seventh inning, leading the West Michigan Whitecaps to a 5-2 win over the Lansing Lugnuts on Sunday. The Whitecaps swept the six-game series with the win.

Cole Bauml scored on the play to give the Whitecaps a 2-1 lead after he hit a single with two outs.

Lansing answered in the top of the next frame when J.B. Woodman drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Rodrigo Orozco to tie it up.

The Whitecaps took the lead for good in the eighth when Chad Sedio scored on a ground out.

Lansing missed an additional scoring opportunity in the eighth, when Andres Sotillo struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

John Schreiber (3-1) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Lansing starter Andy Ravel (4-2) took the loss in the Midwest League game.

Edward Olivares homered and singled for the Lugnuts.

West Michigan improved to 8-1 against Lansing this season.
