GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A new 5K run is taking place in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday morning.
Proceeds from "Nana's Run" will go toward finding a cure for ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
The race pays tribute to Char VanderLaan, who recently died from ALS. She was known as "Nana" to her grandaughters, Cassie and Sydney DeVos, who helped organize the event.
Paula Morning, Executive Director of the ALS Association Michigan Chapter, joined the WZZM13 Weekend Morning News to talk about the event.
