ROCKFORD, Mich. (WZZM) -- A group of Rockford bicyclists began a cross-state journey Monday morning to raise awareness and money for a Haitian orphanage.

The trek takes 26 riders from Rockford to Harrod, Ohio. Riders will meet up with other bicyclists along the way and stop for sleep in churches along the way. The riders hope to raise $80,000 along the 300 mile journey.

The money will go toward the care of orphans at H.I.S. Home for Children, located in Port Au Prince, Haiti. The race ends in Harrod on Saturday. Click here to donate and keep up with the bicyclists on their blog.
