(WZZM) - A new study overseas says American guidelines about salt in our diets are too low for good health.
Right now, the Centers for Disease Control recommends you have only 15 to 23 milligrams of sodium a day. A recent study from Denmark says that might be too low.
It found too little salt can have the same negative impact on your heart health as having too much salt. In other words, too much or too little salt seems to raise your risk for heart disease.
The study suggests the safest range is between 26 and 50 milligrams of salt a day, which is pretty average for most people around the world. The CDC says it stands by its recommendations.
