ZEELAND, Mich. (WZZM)- WZZM and Meijer are pleased to recognize Zeeland East High School's Josh Snyder as our scholar athlete of the week for the week of April 30th.

Josh has battled back from a pair of shoulder surgeries in his high school career to be one of the top athletes in the O-K Green Conference. A 3.8 student, Josh plans to study kinesiology or exercise science at Hope College and play football and baseball there.

Josh is having an outstanding season on the diamond for the Chix. Already the school record holder with a .540 batting average as a junior, Josh was hitting .600 with two home runs and 23 RBI entering the week. He also runs track at Zeeland East and admits the busy schedule can be tiring. "By the end of the week I'm kind of drained but it's a lot of fun,"says Snyder.

Josh was also a big playmaker for the Chix' 9-2 football team last fall. He's been part of two state playoff teams including the 2010 team that went 11-1 and captured a district title.

Outside of sports, Josh takes two advanced placement courses and is in the National Honor Society. He also takes part in weekly bible study at school.

WZZM and Meijer congratulate Josh Snyder for his hard work and wish him continued success!
