HASTINGS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Prosecutors confirm there is a criminal investigation underway into the alleged conduct of a former Major League Baseball player from West Michigan.
Chad Curtis had been volunteering at Lakewood High School near Lake Odessa.
Barry County Prosecutor Tom Evans says the investigation involves inappropriate touching of students. He says Lakewood Public Schools and the Barry County Sheriff's Department are conducting the investigation.
Curtis played ten years in the major leagues, including two seasons in Detroit. He hit the game-winning home run for the New York Yankees in game three of the 1999 World Series.
WZZM 13 News has placed calls to Lakewood Public Schools superintendent Michael O'Mara. He has not returned out messages.
