FREMONT, Michigan (WZZM) - TheFremont Harvest Festival begins Thursday. Organizers say this year's festival is similar to ArtPrize, but with a country twist.

More than 60 art displays created with hay will be displayed throughout the town. They include monkeys, the "Lok-nes" monster, fire trucks and tractors.

The public can vote for the best one by dropping off non-perishable food items to the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce on Main Street until Saturday afternoon. That food will go to fill the food pantry at True North.

Karen Baird,Executive Director of the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce says,"We know that the ArtPrize competition is close, but people from the area including southern Newaygo County are coming up here."

Most of the hay art displays are in or near downtown Fremont.

The event gathered 6,000 pounds of food last year.
