FRUITPORT TWP., Mich. (WZZM) - Trustees in Fruitport Township have approved a long-term agreement to get water from the city of Muskegon.

The township currently buys water from Muskegon Heights, but that contract ends in 2015. Muskegon City Commissioners are expected to approve the agreement tonight. Next week, the city of Norton Shores is expected to finalize its water agreement with Muskegon.

Together, Fruitport Township and Norton Shores provided 70% of the business at the Muskegon Heights filtration plant.
