HASTONGS, Mich. (WZZM) -- The former director of a youth home is facing up to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting teenagers under his care.
A jury Friday found Michael Terpening, 32, guilty of one-count each of second-, third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of aggravated indecent exposure, and one county of attempted fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Terpening was the director of Earth Services Youth Home in Bellevue, which is in Barry County. Prosecutors say teens staying at the home accused Terpening of sexually assaulting them. He was arrested in August 2011.
"Michael Terpening's conviction on multiple felony counts achieves justice for the victims and their families who were traumatized by his abuse," says Joy Yearout, spokeswoman for Michigan attorney general Bill Schiutte. "We will seek the maximum sentence, which is15 years in prison."
Terpening is scheduled to be sentenced on December 13.
