SPRING LAKE, Mich. (WZZM) - The Ottawa County Clerk is apologizing for leaving several Ottawa County candidates off a statewide sample ballot.

The names of three Democratic candidates running for County Commissioner and two other independent candidates were missing from the online ballot on the Secretary of State's website. It took about a month before the problem was discovered.

The Ottawa County Clerk's office says it immediately corrected the ballot and it takes responsibility for the error, which was caused by a computer malfunction. However, one of the candidates affected says he's concerned it will affect the integrity of the election.

"Unfortunately, I don't know how many voters relied on that in completing their absentee ballot or are using that information and will be taking that to the polling location with them on November 6th," says Don Munski, candidate for Ottawa County Commissioner.

Munski says he will decide whether to take further action depending on how close the election is. The Ottawa County Clerk's office says no official ballots were affected.
